Media Library

Designing a Centralized Media Library for Informed Investment Decisions

As part of modernizing the bank’s internal tools, we focused on redesigning the internal media library—a key platform for accessing both real-time market news and proprietary internal reports. These resources play a crucial role in helping relationship managers and analysts make informed investment decisions that are tailored to individual client portfolios.

Previously, content was fragmented across multiple systems, making it difficult and time-consuming to locate the right documents—especially when researching new financial instruments. Our goal was to consolidate this information into one intuitive, centralized hub.

We focused on enhancing the platform’s search functionality, organizing content by relevance, and ensuring easier access to the most critical insights. This streamlined experience now empowers users to efficiently find the information they need—exactly when they need it—ultimately improving the quality and speed of investment recommendations.

Role: Lead UI/UX Designer

Brief

The internal media library was redesigned to serve as a centralized platform for real-time market news and internal investment reports. These resources are critical for enabling bank staff—particularly relationship managers and analysts—to make informed, timely investment decisions aligned with specific client portfolios. The objective was to consolidate scattered resources into one seamless, user-friendly hub that supports efficiency, accuracy, and relevance in decision-making.

Challenges Identified

  • Fragmented content: Reports and documents were dispersed across multiple systems, leading to confusion and inefficiency.

  • Poor searchability: Users struggled to find specific market insights or documents tied to financial instruments.

  • Low usability: The platform lacked a user-centric design, with unclear navigation and content hierarchy.

  • Content overload: Users had difficulty filtering out irrelevant information and locating the most relevant reports for specific clients.

  • Matching logic for information to the correct clients was not yet achieved.

Approach

  • Stakeholder workshops: Gathered insights from key users to understand their daily workflows and pain points.

  • Ran user interviews with RMs to uncover pain points and gain real-world context.

  • Created personas and journey maps to guide the redesign toward user-specific needs.

  • Developed iterative prototypes and conducted user testing at each stage to validate functionality and flow.

  • Aligned closely with development teams to ensure feasibility and seamless implementation.

  • Improved search functionality: Designed a more powerful, filterable search experience tailored to investment use cases.
